2021 - My quilting year in review from Wendy's Quilts and More

It's 31 December, so time for my end of year wrap up.  At the end of each year I like to look back on the goals I set myself at the start of the year.

2021 finishes

My priorities for 2021 were:

1a, 1b, 1 c, 1d and e... Millefiori Quilts

I've done quite well on that goal.  My Raindrops are Falling on my Head quilt is just finished, and I'll blog about it soon. I've called this quilt Bollywood. You can see it in the background on this photo.

I also finished Dancing Cheek to ...

A Rustic Christmas Quilt / "I Spy Quilt" from Angel Scraps Quilting

This post is linked to the following linky parties:  From Bolt to Beauty, Alycia Quilts, and Quilting is More Fun Than Housework.

This is my second Christmas quilt finish of the year!  I have been able to continue making quilts using this same pattern, using only what I have on hand.  I have only purchased quilt battings in the year 2021.  This means that I have purchased no new fabric to supplement what I have on hand, nor any backing fabrics.

This quilt is being made for a family whose home has a cabin feel and I was thinking these ...

We're half way through the year, so it's time to check on progress against the priorities list I made at the start of 2021. (You can read it here.)

1a, 1b,1c,1d.... were all quilts from Millfiori Quilts 4 by Willyne Hammerstein.  I've done quite well on that front.

Not Your Grandmother's Garden

Trans-Tasman Bubbles

2. Topsy by Sheila Christensen.  I just picked it up from my long arm quilter this morning and I'm so pleased with it. My son's 21st birthday is in July and ...

Blue Scrappy Blocks from Angel Scraps Quilting

The scrappy color of the month of April at the SoScrappy Blog is BLUE.  Light and bright blue.

Here are my 4 blue blocks which are going to become a part of the rainbow colored quilt for my granddaughter.

The number of blocks for the quilt are accumulating slowly, but surely.  I now have 16 of the 20 needed.  I also started cutting the sashing strips.

I worked on quilts nonstop for the first three months of the year, but have slowed down some since the first of April.  My plan is to start pulling fabrics for another Christmas quilt ...

My Sister's Christmas Quilt from Angel Scraps Quilting

This post is linked to:  Quilting is more fun than houseworkConfessions of a Fabric Addict, From Bolt to Beauty.

I finished a Christmas Quilt made completely from what I already had on hand.  My sister gave me most of her fabric.  She loves fabric and had bought quite a bit over the years.  But, she decided to de-clutter her house and I was the lucky recipient of some beautiful fabrics.

I decided that since she picked out and bought most of this Christmas fabric, she would most likely like a quilt made from it.  Her birthday is near the ...

Opening the Windows!! from Quilting through Rose-colored Trifocals!

Not all of them -- but enough to smell the air and hear the birdsong.  We are having a short spurt of 50+ degree days here in Northeast Ohio and I'm loving it.  It's too early to do any serious garden work beyond picking up sticks from the lawn and gravel out of the gardens along the driveway.  With a primarily clay soil, messing in the dirt too early is never a good idea.  But it's not too early for a more leisurely walk or to sit on the front porch and stitch.

A few snow crocus and ...

Contemplation? from Quilting through Rose-colored Trifocals!

Just looking through my photos for the week in preparation for writing this blogpost and there aren't many???  Why is that?  Have I been that idle for the past week or so?  My hands maybe, but my head no!  Like many of you, I'm waiting for my first vaccine shot and that has led me to think about how I will exit the current state of things.

What will I do first?  Who will I visit?  When can I leave?

For sure, the first visit will be to my daughter and her family who live over 300 miles ...

Autumn Dreams Quilt from Angel Scraps Quilting

This post is linked to: From Bolt to Beauty,   Alycia Quilts, and Confessions of a Quilt Addict.

and Quilting is more fun than housework.

In early January I made a list of quilting goals and making a Fall quilt was on that list.  AND I actually completed it!

Here is "AUTUMN DREAMS":

Also on my list of goals was to just use what I have on hand in my quilt making this year.  I already had each fabric in this quilt.  It is made of lots of scraps, fat quarters, etc.  There are a few fabrics that appear only once ...

The Papa Jack Quilt Number Two from Angel Scraps Quilting

This post is linked to Finished or Not Friday at Alycia Quilts., Confessions of a Fabric Addict, and From Bolt To Beauty.

I made my hubby, AKA The Papa Jack, a new scrappy, masculine quilt!  The reason I am calling it the Papa Jack Quilt Number Two, is because it is the second one I've made him with that name.  You can see the first one made in 2014, HERE

This project was on my goals list for 2021.  Also sticking to my goals, I did not buy anything in the making of this quilt.  The fabrics were all ...

My Quilting Priorities for 2021 from Wendy's Quilts and More

It's the start of a new year, so its' time to think about what I'd like to make in 2021.

In the second half of 2020 I rediscovered my love of cross stitch, so I definitely want to include some embroidery projects in my 2021 list.

Lets start with the exciting new ideas running around in my head:

1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e...... Millefiori Quilts Book 4 by Willyne Hammerstein
There are so many beautiful quilts in Willyne's latest book.  I've purchased the hand piecing templates for six of them!! I'm not going to make ...
